Please donate to help Lindsay Sandiford appeal against death sentence in Bali

On Tuesday 22nd Jan 2013 my sister Lindsay Sandiford was sentenced to death by firing squad by the Denpasar District Court despite the fact that the Prosecutor had recommended a 15 year sentence. When I arrived in Bali in early October I managed to find an Indonesian Lawyer, Esra Karokaro who would represent Lindsay at trial for £5000. Other lawyers approached had asked for upwards of $30,000! Although Esra appeared to be an honest, uncorrupted lawyer (a rare breed here) he did not speak much English and had certainly never handled a case carrying the death penalty. Esra has done his best throughout the case (with an enormous amount of help from Reprieve (a charity who campaign worldwide against the death sentence).

Thanks to donations received we have now been able to instruct a hopefully competent capital defence lawyer. Any further donations will be used for day to day expenses and, should it be needed, to fund further legal counsel if the first Appeal is not successful - without the need to go through the embarrassment of trying to sue the British Government again.

Anyone who knows my sister knows that she is an intelligent, knowledgeable and funny person (with her own quirks and faults). No-one deserves to be treated the way she has been treated here.

I therefore would ask for your help. Please make a donation if you feel you can or simply share this link to others.

Thank you for all the support so far. We really do appreciate it.
